The best deal I'm going to get is a case which, because the original was authentic and yet cracked easily and was flawed, is just as likely to crack easily, but this time there won't be a warranty to cover it. This sort of sounds acceptable until you think about it. But if the case is authentic, I will be send a replacement, but the replacement won't have a warranty because the original product didn't. If the case isn't authentic, it'll be passed onto their team trying to crack down on counterfeit products and I don't get anything. I complained, and received the following offer: send the case at my own expense within a month to their office in California (I live in the UK) as there's nowhere closer, and they will check its authenticity (a 'product review'). 'Warranty not valid.' (paraphrase) Seriously, what?! You have a dedicated website for checking the authenticity of your products, and won't accept its verdict? What exactly is the point of this website? This actually didn't work for me, but I contacted their customer service who took my Speck case details, ran them through the system, and replied to say congratulations! Your case is genuine! 'Great,' I thought, and asked if they would replace the case although it hadn't come from an authorised reseller. I would be able to understand this logic were it not for the next couple of points: Speck cases come with a warranty sticker and product code, and Speck actually have a website,, where you can enter the details to see if your case is a genuine Speck case.
Now Speck have a policy that that the warranty is only valid if you obtain the product from an authorised reseller (I didn't know this when I got the case). I contacted Speck to ask for a replacement, as the cases come with a warranty, explaining that it had broken easily AND caused cosmetic damage to my laptop which would not have occurred without it. And damage specifically *caused* by the case I got.Īll this may not have merited one star, but their customer service definitely does.
Speck macbook case reviews mac#
This is a brand new Mac we're talking about. The back corners of the bottom part of the case also broke off really quickly, allowing dirt to get into the case, which I didn't realise until I removed it and found that dirt had been rubbing and leaving marks on the body of my laptop.Īdditionally, the Speck case had actual flaws on the inside, a couple tiny bumps which I later discovered had been rubbing against my laptop and had worn a couple holes in it.
The case for the lid cracked trying to remove it. However, it's so tight that I was scared of breaking something trying to get it on and off, and you're meant to remove it once a month to clear dust from under it. I ordered this because it was meant to be good. To learn more about how and for what purposes Amazon uses personal information (such as Amazon Store order history), please visit our Privacy Notice.
